What is it and why should I care?
Most would say it’s the best time of the year in the fashion world. If you’re not familiar with the #NSALE sale, then let me fill you in why you want to be part of it.
When you think of a sale you assume it includes items about to go out of season or picked over past collections that didn’t sell. This is completely opposite. Different from the sales you know, the products are BRAND NEW from designers fall and winter collection! Not only clothes, but the sale includes items from every category Nordstrom offers. Home, beauty, accessories, mens, children, electronics, and more! It’s a pretty big deal.
Okay, sounds interesting… When is it?
This is the most important part. Make sure you know the dates because usually the first day of the sale ~casually~ causes the Nordstrom website to crash because of the traffic! Card holders get early access for an entire week to shop before it opens to the public (major perk!). If you don’t have one yet, I recommend getting one to start earning points and get early access and first picks to the Anniversary Sale. You still have time to get one, just click HERE.
Many use this sale to stock up their fall/winter closet for new boots, coats, sweaters, basics, splurge pieces, new trends, etc. Once the sale is over, the prices go back up to retail. People also use this sale to stock up on gifts because the items that will be discounted, you won’t find on sale all year. Items sell out extremely quickly and rarely restock so it’s important to be on your ish and know what you’re doing. I’ll let you know some of the best ways to get ready for the sale below.
How To Shop The #NSALE Smart
1. Nordstrom Card is a biggie
I’m the last person to sign up for excessive debit or credit cards because I just can’t keep track of all that and truthfully, I don’t want to. I have two store cards: Amazon and Nordstrom. Probably the most beneficial cards I own because of the great perks. If you don’t want to make the leap and go all out for the Nordstrom credit card, the debit card hooks right to your bank account so you don’t have to worry about paying it off. What is different between them is the amount of points you earn per $1 spent. The credit card is 3pts per $1 and you can earn additional points when using it in other locations. The debit card is 2pts per $1 at Nordstrom locations. Both of them earn points from purchases which turn into a “Nordstrom Note” which is like a gift card! My favorite part is the $100 alternations credit you receive as well…(short people probs!) You do you, and what is best for you! Right now they are offering a $60 note (gift card) when signing up for a limited time to get ready for the sale. Sign up for your Nordstrom card HERE!
2. Know what you are looking for
This is really important because shopping it can get overwhelming quick. There are thousands and thousands of products with hundreds of pages to look through. Many don’t have time or the patience to go through all that and still keep your head screwed on. So first, take a look at what you already own and see what you may be missing. Maybe you need a new suede jacket or over-the-knee boots! You should know what you already have (you don’t want to over-shop and have multiples in your closet!) and start from there.
Once you’ve scanned what you own and know what you’re looking for, I’ll be doing the hard work. Leave it to me to go through those thousands of products and pick out the trends, popular products, giftables, splurge pieces, and where you can save the most in each category. You’ll definitely want to keep checking and bookmark the #NSALE tab at the top because I will be updating it everyday!
3. Be quick but smart
Nordstrom has a great return policy so if you can’t get something out of you head or thinking about it for a little ~too~ long, I would just go ahead and grab it in case it sells out! You’d rather have it then miss out and have to pay full price later. I mean they sell out quick. Know what you are looking for, think about others (it’s such a great sale for gifts too!), don’t over-shop and have fun. The products will never be on sale like this again so take advantage of it!
